What is 340B?
The 340B Drug Pricing Program was created by Congress to “stretch scarce federal resources to reach more eligible patients or provide more comprehensive services” (H.R. Rep. 102-384(II)) making prescription medications more affordable for healthcare providers serving vulnerable and underserved populations.
The program requires drug manufacturers to provide outpatient drugs at significantly reduced prices to eligible healthcare providers.
The Crisis
As FQHCs, our ability to serve patients is under attack by PhRMA’s misinformation campaign, limiting access to affordable 340B medications.
PhRMA’s financed front group ASAP 340B is endorsing legislation that reverses the program’s goal of helping more patients. It’s another attempt to limit who can qualify for 340B.
The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) has JOINED ASAP 340B, contradicting everything they stand for.
The Impact of 340B
The 340B program helps Americans by lowering medication costs, funding care for underserved patients, and supporting hospitals and clinics in vulnerable communities.
It reduces taxpayer burden by maximizing federal healthcare dollars and ensures access to essential services, especially in rural and low-income areas.
